If you are unfamiliar with por quoi stories, they are simple tales that tell how and why. How the fox got its tail. How the elephant got its trunk. How the mosquito got its buzz. And so on. This is my story of how cats came to rule the home. And it’s less than 600 words. I’ve also posted a por quoi story written by Tia Heywood when she was in the sixth grade: “Why Cows Say Moo.” You’ll find them under Penchants and Perversities.

I’m creating a series of posters on authors I love. Marge Piercy, Kate Atkinson, Graham Swift, Cynthia Lee Katona, JK Rowling, Jim Harrison, Margaret Atwood. You’ll find them under Penchants and Perversities.

Cynthia Lee Katona wrote haiku that will make you laugh, cry, think and long for more. You can find her books at blurb.com. Highly recommended. I haven’t written any haiku since college but I gave it a go. Katona gave it a thumbs up.
